Polar bears! Aren’t they just adorable? The pictures of polar bears make me just want to snuggle up to one.

As I prepared for this lapbook, I decided to make it geared to younger kids also. By doing this, I included with each lapbook component, an option of:
• ruled
• primary lined
• blank or
• already filled in.

I was thinking of my own son who still isn’t proficient in writing, but who would enjoy making this lapbook if it did not consist of so much writing. So, I made the filled-in components for him. He will still learn by the books we read and the documentaries on polar bears we watch, and this will be more of a review or snapshot of what he learned.

Polar bears are very interesting in that they travel great distances on ice…moving ice!! I was especially interested to learn how the mama cares for her cubs for 2 ½ – 3 years and will not mate during this time.

I hope you all enjoy learning about God’s amazing polar bear.

CRAFTS AND BAKING
Here is a recipe that my Mom use to make. We called them:
Eskimo Cookies
1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cups softened)
3/4 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon water
2 cups oats
confectioners sugar

Put the butter in a bowl and beat well. Add sugar, cocoa, vanilla and water. Mix well. Add in oats.
Shape into 36 balls. Roll in confectioners sugar. Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Refrigerate about an hour. Store them in the refrigerator.
