Ephesians 6:14-16 Copywork

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I made a mistake, we will be out of town next week. My husband is off until the 30th. We will be heading to South Georgia to visit our daughter.
Donnie has already memorized these verses, but I thought it would be good for him to copy them. MaryEllen too.
Ephesians 6:14-16 [KJV]
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Cooler Weather and Good Soup

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

My Sister-In-Law got me this yogurt maker last year for Christmas, and I am ashamed to say that I just got to using it a few days ago! What took me sooooo looooong? This is GREAT! It was SO easy too.
The kids and I enjoyed a yummy bowl of yogurt yesterday morning. We added bananas and granola. It was so good. Thanks Sis!

I was blog hopping the other day too and came across Elaine’s blog. She had a recipe for “Beefy Noodle and Vegetable Soup” that she concocted herself. It looked good, so I tried it last night for dinner. It WAS good! My husband even said, ‘This is tasty.’ Now if he said it was tasty, that IS good. So thank you Elaine for the wonderful meal.
I didn’t budget my time wisely, and forgot to make rolls to go with it. So I made cornbread. It worked out. I could have just buttered bread too, but didn’t think of it at the time. Also, I didn’t have beef seasoning on hand, so I used the beef packets you get from ramen noodles.

With the weather getting cooler, below 50 yesterday with a chilly breeze, this was great. Today we woke [...More]

Mark 12:29-30 Copywork

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Next week we will be out of town, but I am hoping to still have us learn our memory verses. This is what we are going to be working on next week.
I love this verse, and am thinking of making it our homeschool motto or verse. Do any of you have a verse for your homeschool? I read too that some have a verse for the year. Maybe this will be our verse for this year, school year that is. Learning to better love the Lord with all our being.
Mark 12:29-30 [KJV]
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

“I Kissed Dating Goodbye” What A Blessing!

I Kissed Dating Goodbye
I just want to say that I am VERY impressed with this book! I bought this book to give to my older daughter who unfortunately was hurting because of a broken relationship. I don’t want to go into her personal life, but do want to say that she is my daughter from my husbands first marriage, she is young, living on her own away from home, so we aren’t always available physically for her.
I also bought another copy of the book for myself to read, so I can be there to answer any questions she might have. For my husband, I got him the book on tape so he could listen to it during his commute to and from work. I wanted us to both know what was in the book so if she had any concerns or questions, we would be on the same page so to speak.
We all want what is best for our children, and we as parents feel their pain when they are hurting. I prayed that she would actually take the time to read the book if I sent it to her. I prayed the Lord would speak to her heart through [...More]

Psalm 119:11 Copywork

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Good Day Everyone,
Psalm 119:11 is our memory verse for the week. I thought I would share what I made up for the kids to do tomorrow. We haven’t yet done anything like this, we usually just memorize the verses and I assign them as copywork. Today when I was making the copywork page up, it looked so blank with just the verse. I thought of putting a few more verses and maybe a graphic or two. But then the idea hit me about maybe having them writing the verse out in their own words! But something was still missing. I know! How about writing how they can apply the verse to their lives today? Yeah!
So what you have here is the finished product. I am planning on continuing this with future verses.
Enjoy.
