Happy Thanksgiving

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I know you all are in preparation for this Thanksgiving Holiday, so I wanted to wish you all a Blessed Thanksgiving.
We here in the Albright household will be having studies as usual. My husband works through Thanksgiving, so we will be celebrating the first week in December. He is off for a week!! He needs to finish taking his vacation days before the year ends.
Don’t forget that we have a Squanto Lapbook that you might want to do this Thanksgiving.
Also, I added primary lines to the Psalm 100 Copywork for those of you who prefer primary lines.
I also created this cute piece of copywork for this week.
Thanksgiving
Praise God for wheat, so white and sweet,
of which to make our bread!
Praise God for yellow corn, with which his
       waiting world is fed!
Praise God for fish and flesh and fowl he
       gave to man for food!
Praise God for every creature which he
      made and called it good!
Praise God for winter’s store of ice! Praise
      God for summer’s heat!
Praise God for fruit-tree bearing seed; “to
      you it is for meat.”
Praise God for all the bounty by which all
       the world is fed!
Praise God his children all, to whom he
       gives their daily bread!

1 Corinthians 10:31 Copywork

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Well, my computer is still being repaired. I have been antsy, wanting to make up or finish some projects I was working on my computer, so I installed a few programs on my husbands computer so I can atleast fiddle around a bit.
I did make up another piece of copywork for this week.
1 Corinthians 10:31 [KJV]
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I am really enjoying making these, so if any of you have any particular verses you would like to see, shoot me an email and I will try to have it up asap.

The Lords Prayer Copywork

Monday, November 9th, 2009

My laptop is off to the repair shop. It was not recognizing the CD/DVD drive. I am guessing I will be without for a few weeks. For now, I am on my husbands computer. His computer does not have all the same doodads as mine that I use to make our stuff so, I went through my back ups and found this piece of copywork that I have not yet uploaded.
I just noticed as I was uploading it that I only created this in Primary lines and tracing in the D’Nealian font.
Matthew 6:9-13 [KJV]
The Lord’s Prayer
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Psalm 100 Copywork

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Here are the next verses. I must say that we haven’t yet memorized the verses from Mark, so we are a little behind. Regardless, I will still try to post a new set for those of you who can keep up!
Please, for those of you who do use them, I would love some feedback. You know,
*how you use them,
*am I supplying enough lines?
*Would you like to see primary lines too?
*Maybe splitting the verse for those who have trouble looking up and then finding their place to write etc.
*What ages do you use these for?
I would love any feedback so I can improve them.
I also added a ‘fill in the blank’ on the last page. I thought this might be fun for those who memorize the verses.
Also, I added a spot called ‘My Prayer’.  Psalm 100 is such a pretty selection, that as I typed it I felt myself sending up words of prayer from my heart. I thought if it makes my heart want to praise our Lord and tell Him how wonderful I think He is and how grateful I am to Him, then maybe others will want to write down a prayer also from their heart.

Back From Vacation

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

We arrived home late Friday and Don had to be back at work on Saturday morning. The kids and I were lazy through the weekend knowing that on Monday we had to get back into our study routine.
They did great! We actually got everything done! I am still giving us the week to get into the swing of things.
It is funny because since we have moved out in nowhere, Halloween just passes on by us. We don’t do anything special anyway, but if someone knocks we would give out candy. Now that we live out in nowhersville, we don’t get any callers. There are no decorations around the ‘neighborhood.’ I completely forgot that the day had passed. I kinda like it!
I am finishing up the next weeks copywork. I will post it shortly.
During my lazy weekend, I typed up the kids’ booklists for the year. I also typed up a ’schedule’ if you will.

I call it Moving Right Along because it is suppose to help the kids remember what to do next. There are no times to it because I have tried that route, but it doesn’t fit our family. My husbands hours vary, so our [...More]
